Atom Reps Advance to WOAA Finals
The Foxton Fuels Atom Rep team overcame a rough game 1 and won 3 straight games to defeat Seaforth 3 games to 1.
As noted in an earlier article, the teams split the first 2 games. Thursday's game, scheduled for Seaforth, was postoned due to weather, so game 3 was in Wingham on Feb. 2. Wingham played an almost perfect game, winning 4-0, giving Seaforth very few scoring chances. Now, with their backs to the wall, Seaforth would host game 4 on Feb. 3 and if necessary, game 5 on Feb. 5.
To Seaforth's credit, they didn't make it easy. Sunday's game was a nail biter. After a scoreless first period, Hayden Robinson worked his way across the front of the net and scored part way through the 2nd to put Wingham up 1-0. The game stayed that way until the last minute of the 3rd period when Ben MacLean scored the insurance marker for a 2-0 victory. After giving up 3 goals in the opening game, Wingham outscored Seaforth 10-1 over the next 3 with the defence providing a strong firewall in front of goaltender Golley.
Wingham will now play the winner of the Minto / West-Grey series. Game schedule will be posted online when established.
