Wingham U11 Rep Win Year End Tournament
The
Wingham Ironmen U11 Rep team travelled to Aylmer March 22-24 for the
Aylmer Year End Rep Tournament. The team started the round robin
portion of the tournament Friday night with a loss to the Port Colbourne
team by a score of 4-1 in a hard fought match. The second round robin
game on Saturday morning saw the team finish with a 2-2 tie against St.
Thomas.
The third and last game of the round robin saw the team finish with a dominant 4-0 outcome in a must win game to carry on to the playoffs as the 4th seed. As the 4th seed, the Ironmen drew the 1st seed, Norwich, in the early morning game on Sunday morning. Again, a dominant game saw the Ironmen come away with a decisive 7-2 win to secure a spot in the finals on Sunday afternoon against the home team East Elgin.
In the finals, the Ironmen again dominated from the start and continued their momentum to a 4-0 win, ending the playoffs of the tournament with 11 goals for and only 2 goals against. Hard work, timely offence, solid defence and steady goaltending were keys to this team’s success in the tournament and is testament to the kids buy in since the start of the season.
A special thanks to all AP players and their families who attended this tournament and dedicated their time, commitment and buy-in to U11 systems, which were key to our success. Congratulations to the U11 Rep team on a well-deserved tournament win.
