U13 Rep Win Young Canada Week
March 10th the Wingham Ironmen U13 Rep team earned the 73rd Young Canada Week championship in Goderich. They started the tournament with a tidy 1-0 win against the Twin Centre Stars. Their second game came against the Mid Huron Huskies rep D team. This was another close game and the Ironmen earned a 3-0 victory.

The final round robin game was against Central Perth, a 5-1 victory where the team stayed committed to playing the team game to play the right way instead of looking for individual accolades. In the semi finals they played the host Goderich Sailors. This was a tight game with the Sailors putting up a late comeback attempt where the Ironmen held strong and kept their cool at the end of the game. In this semi final game the Ironmen were missing two of their players to play in their U13 Blue game. Thankfully they had a couple U11 Rep players who were able to play, and each scored in the victory.
For the finals the Ironmen had everyone in the lineup and faced off against their 86 rivals, the Huron Bruce Blizzard. The kids gave an amazing effort and played solid defence and stuck to the game plan. The Ironmen earned a solid 3-0 victory with an amazing team effort in the championship game. The game was never in doubt after they went up 1-0. The entire tournament was a highlight of solid defensive play, great goal tending and complete game, hard working play by all. The Ironmen's top player was great offensively and defensively, and the leadership group played like leaders. A very special thanks to Rob and the U13 Yellow team and staff for sharing a player for the tournament who played in 10 games total over the 3 days including 3 games in 4 hours Sunday afternoon (and congrats to their victory). Also, a big thanks to all of the Ironmen parents, team staff, and executive for a great weekend and winning the last game of the season. Thanks Goderich for being great tournament hosts. Congratulations to the U13 Rep players, they earned it!
