Wingham Bantam Reps

The Wingham Bantam Reps had a busy couple of weeks on the ice playing four away games and one at home.

The boys travelled to Listowel on Dec 2nd and Hensall on Dec 3rd. Both games ended with a loss and an empty score board for Wingham. The tables turned on the 5th when the team met Saugeen Shores in Port Elgin. Port Elgin started the scoring with an early goal in the first period. Spencer Green netted the Wingham’s first point assisted by Brady MacDonald and Landon Anderson-Johnston. In the second period, Saugeen Shores scored their second goal early. Wingham continued to play hard. Jordan Pham, assisted by S. Green and Hayden Robinson, tied it up. S. Green popped in an unassisted goal to put Wingham in the lead. With strong defense, Saugeen Shores was unable to score any more points. In the third, Green scored two more points with assists by Thomas Gangl and MacDonald.
Wingham hosted the Goderich Sailors on the 9th. Wingham put single points on the board in each period. Green, assisted by Brenden Gallaher and Garrhett Green, scored in the first. MacDonald, assisted by S. Green earned the point in the second. Mac Mulvey netted the goal in the third with assists going to G. Green and Robinson. Despite strong defensive efforts by Mulvey, Anderson-Johnston, Simon Reidy and Trent Belmore, the Sailors took the win. Mitch Deans and Garrhett Golley worked hard between the pipes.
On Sunday, the team travelled to Blyth to meet the Blyth-Brussels Crusaders. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the first with a Wingham goal by MacDonald, assisted by Jordan Pham. Wingham scored two more in the second. One goal by Robinson from G. Green, and another by S. Green from Pham. In the third, Pham and Gangl fed S. Green to ensure the win. Final score – 4-2.
The boys meet Seaforth at the NHWCC on Dec 16th. They start their Kindcardine Silverstick games on Dec 28th with games at 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Families and fans wish the boys good luck on their upcoming games.
