I’m so proud of my team ! At the start of the season I remember we lost 10-0.
We progressed through the year and at Young Canada Week in Goderich placed runner up after a bunch of amazing games. Not bad for a team with just three second year players, I will miss playing with you next year Haley Gibson, Megan Metske and Mercedes Potter.
This past weekend we played in our last tournament of the season, our WOAA Year End Tournament.
We kicked it with a win of 8-2 against South Bruce HL. Goals were scored by Haley Gibson (2), Erica Murray (2), Halle Hogg, Tori Cutting, Mya Robinson and Sarah MacDonald. Assisted by Mercedes Potter (2), Brianna Dickson, Halle Hogg, Mya Robinson and Haley Gibson.
Then in our second game we tied 1-1 against Grey Highlands. We tied the game up with 30seconds left in the game, thanks to Erica Murray who scored the goal assisted by Haley Gibson.
On sunday we went back to Ayton to play in the final game for first place. We played against West Grey. Mya Robinson scored assisted by Megan Metske to get us a 1-1 tie going into the third period. In the third period was when we were able to score twice to go ahead 3-1. The goals were scored by Mya Robinson and Erica Murray and again Megan Metske got the assists for both ! I watched the clock, 10 – 9 – .... – 3 – 2 – 1 ...
and we WON !
That meant that we won the WOAA Championship in our Year end Tournament. Not only did that mean a win but it also meant party at Doug and Cheryl’s, thank you both for having us !
Over the year we lost , won and tied but everything we did in the past helps on what we did/do today and what we are going to do in the future ! I’m proud to say that you talented girls are my hockey family and you make me laugh and proud of how far we all came. Especially a big shout out to Halle Hogg who finished her first ever hockey season, way to go !
Thanks for putting up with us every week, Rob, Doug, Ken and Cathy ! And thanks for helping us out on the bench this weekend Jen Johnston ! See you all again soon !
