Peewee Girls finish strong at Young Canada Week !!
CONGRATULATIONS to the Peewee Girls on winning
Runner Up in the "C" Division at Young Canada Week this
past weekend !!

Way to go 86'ers !!

The Girls played their first game on Friday Night vs. Ilderton Jets and lost 2-1. Erica Murray scored the
only goal of the game assisted by Brianna Dickson.

Saturday morning the girls started off the day vs. West Grey. Haley Gibson started off with scoring a goal
in the first period assisted by Brianna Dickson to make the game 1-0. It was a close game and the whole
team worked hard to keep it that way. The third period got under way and Erica Murray scored assisted by
Tori Cutting to get the 2-0 lead. The girls kept us cheering hard as they tried to keep the score where it was.
Michelle Angst had some great saves in net and as the game ended celebrated her first shut out of the season.

Game two got under way after the girls had a great time at the Bowling Alley celebrating Cassie Wilson’s
birthday. Loaded with lots of positiv energy they went on the ice and were faced with another very close
game vs. BCH/ Blyth-Brussels. They weren’t able to score in the first period and kept the tie going right half
way into the second period. That was when Tori Cutting was able to score a goal assisted by Brianna Dickson
and Haley Gibson. Lots of cheering kept going as the girls played their hearts out on the ice and were able to
keep the score at a 1-0 to go on and win that game too. This meant shutout number two for Michelle Angst in
net and another great performance of the whole team !!

The girls now were able to go on to the Final Games and played game 4 of the tournament on sunday morning.
What a close game that was, parents, grandparents etc were kept at the edges of their seats cheering as the
game was played vs. Mount Forest. 86’ers Halle Hogg was able to score in the second period assisted by
Maya Robinson and Tori Cutting to make the game 1-0. Mount Forest followed suit and got the score to 1-1
before going into the third. In the third period our girls were able to even it out again with an unassisted goal
by Erica Murray. But only a bit later Mount Forest was able to score to make it a 2-2 tie.
Overtime was played without a score and the girls were faced going into a sudden death shoot out !
Wow, what an exciting game !! Erica Murray was our first shooter, full force she went at it and SCORED !!
Michelle Angst was ready to face Mount Forest’s first shooter and SAVED !! The girls were one big happy
team to go on into the “C” Division Final Game !! What a team effort !!

The final game got under way in the afternoon and the girls once again went out and tried their best.
They faced Ilderton again and were not able to score. The 86’ers kept the game at a nothing tie right into the
third period when Ilderton was able to score twice. That was the finish to an awesome tournament !!
