Good Start to the Season
After winning 2 exhibition games over Listowel AE, 3-1 and Teeswater, 8-1, the boys travelled to Wiarton Friday Oct 19, to take on the Bruce Peninsula Wild.  The visiting squad was short-handed for the first period due to an 'equipment malfunction' by one of the defencemen but were able to hold on to a 0-0 tie after one.

When Brett Jarvis joined the team on the ice, the boys came out firing in the second, scoring 3 times in 4 minutes.  On a long pass from Jarvis, Les Irvine broke in all alone to start the scoring.  Then Jarvis blasted one from the point, on a pass back from Merrick Smith.  Then to finish, Ryan Gangl blew one by the goalie, on passes from Tyler Pham and Dawson Currie.  While the ice was still wet to start the 3rd, Dustin Robertson was stymied on a penalty shot after the Wild defenceman stopped the puck from going in with his hand.  A couple penalties made for a few hairy minutes to finish the game but were settled down by the strong goaltending of Chris Enders, holding on for the 3-1 win!  Overall, a strong game by all after the long drive to the peninsula.  The Bruce Peninsula squad returns to Wingham on thursday at 8 pm.
