PeeWees Down 1 to Minto
The Legion PeeWees let Minto steal the first game of the WOAA semi-finals on Thursday night in Wingham.
Coming off a hard fought 6 game series with Seaforth, Wingham got behind 3-0 after the first period. Minto has a quick team that took advantage of some tired legs for 3 quick goals in a span of about 3 minutes. To Wingham's credit they didn't fold up. Scoring one in the second, by Cam Hoskins, to get on the board the team started to build some momentum. But Minto was able to add a 4th goal before Wingham could get within one, so it was a steep hill to climb.
In the third period Noah Young scored Wingham's second goal, tapping in a rebound of Colton Dunn's shot. Wingham missed a couple of chances with a goal post and a goal called back that would have tied the score at 4 for an exciting finish.
The teams play game 2 in Harriston on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2:30 p.m. with game 3 back in Wingham Jan. 26 at 7:00. Game 4 will be in Palmerston on Jan. 27 at 6:00 p.m.
