PeeWees Advance in WOAA
The Legion PeeWees squeaked past Seaforth in the 6th game of their 5 game series with a 4-3 overtime win on Jan. 16.

Wingham had forced an extra game in the series by winning games 4 & 5 on Jan. 14 & 15 to tie their series at 5 points each.  This forced a 6th game which had to be played in Seaforth.  The Legion team out strong and dominated play for most of the game.  They took a 2-0 lead part way through the second period on 2 goals by Cameron Hoskins, the first one shorthanded, but couldn't get one more insurance goal.  Having great chances on a couple of powerplays, they just couldn't get that 3rd goal.
Seaforth started to come back and took the lead 3-2 with just over 3 minutes remaining in the third period.  To Wingham's credit, they didn't deflate and rose to the challenge with their Captain, Ryan Gangl, scoring a shorthanded goal from the high slot with just over a minute remaining in regulation.
The teams then went to a 10 minute overtime.  Wingham again dominated in the OT and the Seaforth goalie made several good saves before Colton Dunn scored the series winner with 3.5 seconds remaining in the first overtime period.
This was a tremendous series for the team.  Having struggled all season to score goals, they were able to put together a 3 game winning streak at just the right time.
The team will now face Minto in the WOAA semi-finals.  Game one will be Thursday, Jan. 19 at 7:00 p.m. in Wingham.  Keep an on the website calendar.
